Do you need a beginner set of women’s golf clubs? If so, the Callaway Women’s Strata Golf Club set might be just what you need.
Golf is a tough sport and using the right equipment is half the battle to making the game somewhat easier. But if you’re a new golfer it’s very intimidating to know what clubs to buy and which ones (like a lob wedge or long irons) can wait until you’re more advanced. Not to mention finding clubs that match your height and skill level.
Luckily, more and more manufacturers offer full golf club sets to make it easier to get started playing golf. These all-in-one sets come with 8–12 clubs, headcovers, and bags so new golfers can buy everything in one purchase.
Today we’ll review the Callaway Women’s Strata set.
Callaway Women’s Strata Golf Club Set Review
Callaway has dominated the golf world the past few years with their A.I. designed drivers like the Rogue ST Max and Paradym. But they also make great fairway woods, irons, wedges, and more.
Unlike a lot of their competitors they also make all-in-one golf club sets too. These are ideal for beginner golfers who want to begin their golf journey without breaking the bank. Not to mention golf club sets have all the clubs needed (plus a bag and headcovers) to buy everything together.
- Callaway makes some of the best golf club sets for beginner players.
- They make men and women sets – with different combinations of clubs to help you get started playing golf.
- Buying an entire set is a good idea for beginner golfers as it will help save money and come with a bag.
Here’s why these are such high-rated clubs by golfers around the world.
Three Sets Available
Most golfers don’t need all 14 clubs (the USGA limit) when just starting out and learning how to swing. Callaway beats a lot of other competitors as they have three sets available.
Here is a quick recap of what’s included in each:
- 16-piece set: 460 cc driver, 3-wood, 4/5 hybrid, 6–9 irons, PW, SW, and putter. Comes with a black purple-black lightweight stand bag.
- 14-piece set: 460 cc driver. 5-wood, 5 hybrid, 6–9 irons, PW, SW, and putter. Comes with a light blue-black lightweight stand bag.
- 11-piece set: 460 cc driver, 5 wood, 5 hybrid, 7-iron, 9-iron, SW and putter. Also comes with a pink-black lightweight stand bag.
Not to mention, two sets are available in right and left-hand models. For the rest of the review we’ll focus on the 16-piece set as they’re the same clubs in all sets – except the 16 piece has a few more clubs.
Forgiving Golf Clubs
As Callaway stated on their website, “We packed the Strata Ultimate Women’s Set with modernized golf technology to give you ultimate distance, performance, and forgiveness for every club in the bag. Expect longer shots with ease, more control and more confidence, all at an incredible value. The full complement of clubs will have you covered from tee to green.”
These clubs are lightweight, forgiving, and easy to hit. Not to mention they have a good mix of woods and hybrids. Plus, unlike a lot of their competitors they also have a sand wedge too.
The driver is a 12-degree, 460-cc driver while the 3W is 15 degrees (I think this should be 16 or 17 as it’d make it easier to hit off the deck). But they do have hybrids 4-5H instead of long irons which is needed for beginner golfers. Headcovers are included with the driver, 3W, and hybrids.
The irons and wedges offer high flight technology for maximum distance and forgiveness. They might be a little heavy for some golfers as they are stainless steel.
Finally, the putter is a simple all black blade design. I wish they swapped this out for a more forgiving mallet design as it’d help newer golfers with mishits. Not to mention the putter has one small white line for alignment – this felt like another missed opportunity.
Finally, we can’t forget to mention the lightweight stand bag that is included with each set. All three are great colors and the bag itself is very lightweight and won’t tip over like cart bags.
This stand bag will help protect the clubs alongside the matching headcovers for the woods and hybrids too. Plus, it has five pockets and easy to carry back straps too.
FAQs About Callaway Golf Clubs
Do you have more questions about these Callaway beginner golf clubs? If so, keep reading to learn the most common questions and answers.
What’s the difference in women’s golf clubs?
Women’s clubs are shorter and lighter than men’s clubs. They also tend to have more fairway woods and hybrids compared to their male counterparts.
Can a woman use men’s golf clubs?
Yes, but for the most part it’s not recommended – especially for beginners.
Callaway makes starter sets for men, women, and junior golfers but each have different designs. Since men are bigger and tend to swing faster, they have longer/heavier shafts.
While professional women golfers might play some men’s clubs, it’s generally not recommended for the everyday golfer. Don’t make golf harder by playing the wrong equipment!
Do they offer different sizes?
Unfortunately no – there are some brands that offer different sizing based on height like Wilson. They offer different sets based on size including petite, normal, and tall versions. The shafts are lengthened or shortened to suit all types of players.
While we love the Callaway Strata sets, there are a few alternatives you might want to consider as well.
Another top pick from Callaway is their Reva set which is more of a higher end set. They are a premium set but only offered in 11-pieces at this time. But for most new golfers, they still have all the clubs you need to get swinging.
Here is how Callaway described it. “This complete offering is engineered for women of all skill levels who want to increase their distance, hit great shots, and enjoy the game more than ever before. This set includes: Driver, 3 Wood, 5 & 6 Hybrids, 7 through 9 Irons, Pitching and Sand Wedge, Putter, Cart Bag, and (5) Headcovers.”
All the clubs match the lightweight stand bag too. Plus, the putter is a big upgrade thanks to the amulet design and more built-in alignment.
The Reva set is available in right and left-hand models. Plus, this set does offer short (made for women 5’1” or under) and long (5 ‘8” and taller) too. Not to mention the right-hand sets are available in red, blue, or black colors.
Wilson Profile SGI Set
Wilson makes a ton of beginner clubs for both men and women so this is a great alternative. They also have some of the best ratings on Amazon and great for new golfers.
As mentioned above, one of the biggest perks of these sets is they’re available in petite, regular, or tall versions. All these clubs have very lightweight shafts, easy to hit design. They also come with woods, hybrids, a sand wedge, putter and bag.
Whether you’re less than five feet or more than six feet tall, they have a set for you. Not to mention great options for men, seniors, and juniors too.
I bought this beginner set for my wife and I’m so glad I did. This set came with everything she needed to begin her golf journey. The bag is high-quality and the clubs are super forgiving making it a no-brainer decision.
If you’re ready to get your significant other into golf, these clubs can absolutely help. Plus, they look great too.
Overall this is a great beginner set from Callaway that is offered in 11, 14, and 16-pieces. The woods and hybrids are great and don’t have much negative to say here.
However, the irons and wedges could be a little lighter and more forgiving. I also wish the putter was a mallet design for more forgiveness and better alignment.
But when it comes to beginner golf sets for women, these are hard to beat with a great price too.
