Nike might not make golf clubs anymore, but that doesn’t mean they don’t make a ton of other great products for golfers. From clothes, hats, accessories, and golf bags too.
One of their most popular products is the Nike Air Hybrid golf bag. It’s an all-purpose bag that is great whether you want to carry it during the round or strap it on to a cart.
Here’s why it’s such a popular item amongst golfers around the world.
As I’m sure you know, not all golf bags are created equal. Some have tons of storage but are so bulky and heavy, they’re nearly impossible to carry.
While others are super lightweight but don’t offer any protection for your clubs. Not to mention, have minimal storage which makes it hard to pack food, gadgets, and anything else you might need on the course.
If you’re on the fence about investing in this new bag, keep reading to learn all the benefits.
Here’s what makes this Nike golf bag such a good choice for most golfers.
This bag is primarily a carry bag and not a cart bag thanks to its adjustable Equaflex Max Air dual strap design. This bag is classified as a hybrid golf bag. The straps have a ton of padding and rest on your shoulders with ease.
But unlike most carry bags, it also has a cart strap through system as well. This strap-through design makes it easy for the straps to pass underneath the main handle of your bag and secure tightly to the cart. This feature ensures your bag is always strapped adequately to the cart and won’t bounce around as much as you’re driving.
Being a carry bag first, it’s still also very lightweight (about 6.5 pounds) and won’t make you grab a push cart for the back nine.
Overall, it’s a very good-looking bag and isn’t bulky like a cart bag with a great color design.
One new trend that has popped up with stand bags is the use of individual dividers. This bag has 14 full-length dividers, so each club has its own specific spot and makes it easy to organize your golf bag.
After using stand bags that only have five dividers where multiple clubs fit in each one, I can say this is a great benefit. You no longer need to worry about them getting stuck in the bottom of your bag and are easy to grab from the cart.
Plus, the full-length dividers mean they won’t touch and hit each other when driving in the cart or as much when you’re traveling. This should help protect your clubs for a longer period of time and avoid any dings or excess scratches.
While the bag has 14 dividers to keep each club secure, it has just about as many pockets too. The Nike Air Hybrid offers tons of storage thanks to seven pockets and two beverage compartments as well. The insulated pocket is great to keep your drinks and food cold throughout the round.
What’s great about this bag is that no space goes unused. The pocket on the left side is large while there are three pockets in the center of the bag too. These are great for balls, tees, and other small valuables.
Plus, the right side offers three more pockets including a large, full-size apparel pocket. Inside the large apparel pocket is access to the center of the bag in case you drop anything in there as well. Plus, there is a spot to clip your towel, velcro your glove, and a small pocket specifically for Sharpies too.
Another great perk about this golf bag is that it’s available in three different color selections.
The first is an all white design. From top to bottom, everything except the stand and zippers are white. While it looks awesome, I wouldn’t recommend this one if you live in colder climates with bad weather. It’s not an easy bag to keep clean in wet, muddy conditions.
The other options are a white, black, and red design or an all black design. The all black is the exact opposite of the all white and great for playing in winter months. While the black, white, red bag is a perfect mix of both and doesn’t have too much white that can get dirty.
If you want a little more flare and color with your bag, you’ll want to check out the Nike Air Hybrid 2 version. This has all the same features of the original hybrid, but the bag is black with snow camouflage and neon green zippers. This color scheme is sure to make a statement on the golf course.
Regardless of which you choose, they all look great and have the same pockets, dividers, straps, and more.
Additionally, this bag has a water-resistant rain hood for when you’re playing golf in the elements. Regardless of which color option you choose, the hood is an all black design that buttons to your bag easily. Speaking of rain, there is an umbrella holder on the outside so you don’t have to take up any pockets and can keep it on the outside of your bag.
There are only two potential downsides to the bag but are worth mentioning.
First, the ball pocket doesn’t zip off like some bags in case you want to get it embroidered. A lot of players like to add their name or business logo, but Nike didn’t make it easy to do this.
Additionally, there isn’t a specific pocket for your rain hood. I used to have a bag that had it built into the hip pocket which was nice as it didn’t take up extra room. But the ball pocket is so big you can fold it up and keep 10+ balls in there without even realizing it.
Yes, the top divider slot is substantially bigger than the other 13. This is great if you have a larger, oversized putter and/or grip. Plus, it’s a good place to store your alignment sticks or other training aids too.
Not at this time. Currently, Nike only makes carry or hybrid golf bags.
The Nike Air Hybrid is a very versatile golf bag whether you want to ride in a golf cart or walk 18 holes. Plus, it works on a push cart too.
While it’s not the cheapest golf bag available, it definitely warrants the higher price tag. With so much storage, 14 individual dividers, and good looks, it’s certain to last you a long time.
